James Jennings, recognized as "AKIL" within his community, is a multifaceted individual driven by a profound commitment to community service. Previously renowned as the creator of the hit live stage show, and weekly Radio program on V101.1FM; "The Home Grown Soul Show". AKIL's talents extend beyond the airwaves, encompassing artistry, music production, graphic design, web development, and information technology expertise.
Beyond his current IT career and creative pursuits, AKIL has proactively engaged in community empowerment initiatives. in 2011 he founded Promote the Peace (www.promotethepeace.com), an organization focused on facilitating connections among teenagers, parents, and various entities to furnish crucial resources and employment prospects. AKIL also is the creator of The Work Agents, a professionalism and employment program where the tagline is "Preparing for the Work Ahead!"
In February 2011, AKIL assumed the role of community outreach chairman within the NAACP executive committee. Reflecting on his motivation for service, he recounted, "My household marred by substance abuse and violence deeply affected my family and community. This upbringing instilled in me a strength and will to disrupt this cycle of adversity that contribute to the loss of so many young people. I now work to promote positivity every day with the goal of helping folks to live happy and find success.

His enduring commitment to fostering opportunities, benefits not only musicians but also young individuals and the broader community, epitomizing his resolute dedication to uplifting those within his sphere of influence.
